Most Common Materials For Driveway Paving

There are several considerations when choosing the ideal driveway paving for your establishment. This
is a one-stop guide on materials selection for your driveway construction, resurfacing, re-carpeting, or
extension.

Materials Selection

Which materials will you pick to bring out the best in your driveway? Many people, when confronted
with this question, assume that they have to choose from only two options; asphalt paving or concrete
paving. While these are the two most common materials, the truth is that there are a number of other
alternatives, which are not quite as common. These include; brick paving, plastic paving, marble paving,
cobblestone paving, and porcelain paving.

 Asphalt paving: Asphalt is preferred as a driveway paving material for a number of reasons.
First, it has the best resilience to harsh weather conditions. For instance, if you live in an area
that snows, you will not have to keep shoveling snow out of your driveway all day to keep it
clear. The dark color of asphalt means that it absorbs more sunlight hence causing the snow to
melt away faster.

 Concrete paving: Concrete is preferred as a driveway paving material because it is durable and
has excellent aesthetic properties. However, its initial cost of installation may be a bit steep for
some people.

 Marble driveways: If you are all about looks, you can never go wrong with installing a marble
driveway in your home. However, the downside with this kind of driveway is that it is very
expensive to install or maintain. With this kind of driveway, be ready to fork out up to five times
the cost of installing a concrete or asphalt driveway.

 Brick driveways: These are less common because they wear quite easily. However, the upside is
that brick is easily shaped into any design you want, giving your driveway excellent aesthetic
value.

 Plastic paving: Plastic may not look like an ideal material for your driveway paving but it is
actually used successfully in a number of homesteads. Plastic paving is best for small driveways
that are not so busy. Once installed, not much maintenance is required making it a good
medium-budget driveway option.

 Cobblestone paving: just like brick paving, cobblestone has excellent aesthetic value when used
to construct your driveway but it wears easily. If you opt to install such a driveway in your
house, you need to be ready to perform regular maintenance practices.
Having picked the ideal material for your driveway paving, we have competent paving contractors that
will handle every other aspect of the process for you. We will provide you with several driveway designs
to choose from, and advise you on some other factors you need to know before undertaking any such
project.
